The true NIMBYs of the world are those who want to make the world green — so long as it’s not them who have to suffer for it.

Green power has come to mean generating electricity by burning taxpayer dollars.

Congressman Bill Owens is willing to subsidize the industrial wind destruction of Northern New York Communities.

Bill Owens has two versions of his reply to those of us who contacted him about H.R. 3307.

The first version is definitive and intended as a reply to a person who supports his efforts.

The second version was sent to me. His explanation to those who don't support wind welfare was a polite way to tell us to go shit in our hats. However, he did babble some bullshit about home rule.

Subject: Reply from Congressman Bill Owens

Thank you for contacting me to express your support for H.R. 3307, the American Renewable Energy Production Tax Credit Extension Act. I appreciate that you took the time to share your views with me, and I'm glad we agree on this important issue.

Cheer up. Remember, the Bill Owen's
industrial wind welfare is my gain
and your loss.
You and I agree that we need to break America's addiction to foreign oil, and I am a strong supporter of pursuing clean domestic resources as we move towards energy independence when it is done responsibly and in coordination with local leaders and communities. To ensure New York is poised to take advantage of the rising green energy industry, we must make investments that support consumers and businesses right here at home.

That is why I am a cosponsor of H.R. 3307, which extends through 2016 the tax credit for electricity produced from wind, biomass, geothermal or solar energy, landfill gas, trash, hydropower, and marine and hydrokinetic renewable energy facilities. The green energy industry provides hope for economically distressed areas across the country, and New York is already leading the way by producing clean, renewable and American grown energy. This bill can help promote green energy job creation here at home while supporting growth in industries hit hard by the recession, like manufacturing and construction.

I will support this bill in its current form should it come to the House floor for a vote, and will keep your comments in mind as I continue working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to support common sense policies that help secure America's energy independence.

Again, thank you for contacting me about this important issue.  To receive updates on my work in New York and Washington, please visit my website at www.owens.house.gov.  Should you have additional comments or questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.  My door is always open as I believe that we function better as a society when we engage in nonpartisan, civil discourse.

Sincerely,

Bill Owens
Member of Congress

Version #2:

Dear Mr. Wiley,

Thank you for contacting me to express your concerns with H.R. 3307, the American Renewable Energy Production Tax Credit Extension Act. I appreciate that you took the time to share your views with me on this important issue.

I support pursuing domestic resources as we move towards energy independence when it is done responsibly and in coordination with local leaders and communities. For that reason, I believe an "all of the above" energy strategy is appropriate to ensure the nation takes advantage of its unique resource advantages while allowing communities the flexibility to participate in America's energy strategy in their own way. That is why I support programs from the Keystone XL pipeline to nuclear power to renewable energy here in New York.

The decision-making process for of these initiatives, including wind power, should be locally decided and fully take into consideration the concerns raised by the community before any final decisions are made.

That is why I am a cosponsor of H.R. 3307, which extends through 2016 the tax credit for electricity produced from many of the renewable sources New York is already utilizing to provide power to rural areas, such as biomass from local forests. This legislation can help provide necessary support for critical investments here at home, with the added benefit of supporting industries like manufacturing and construction that have struggled in today's economy.

I believe New York is well positioned to take advantage of a growing energy economy, including green jobs. Job creation and economic development are my top priorities in Congress, and so I am eager to support bipartisan legislation that presents commonsense solutions to the energy problems we face.

I will be sure to keep your comments in mind should I have the opportunity to vote on H.R. 3307, and as I continue working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to help secure America's energy independence.

Bill Owens is on the wrong side of Northern NY issues.
He will get a public drubbing on 3303 just as he did on PIPA and SOPA.
He is out of touch with Northern New York. You know way he told Jefferson County while at the College?
"I stayed here because of the beauty." Remember he drives so fast to get back home that he got a ticket.

I emailed him a few weeks ago and explained why he would never get my vote. I agree, the next election we vote him out.

Bill Owens hung Cape Vincent residents out to dry all while supporting the Spanish and British, we will not forget in the next election.

There are no do overs on this issue Bill or any other elected official.

When the Federal Government final abandons wind and Billy boy decides to change his mind because it is politically appropriate we will still vote his ass out for being such a putz and lackey of Albany.

The man has no balls he was castrated by his political ambitions. Either he wants to make a career out of politics or he is a complete fool who doesn’t have the ability to do his own research. Either way, he has to go!

In all fairness to Mr. Doheny ,in light of Mr. Hoffman's assertions that he benefited from the bailouts, Mr Doheny would do well to remove himself from the controversy. Full disclosure as to his financial gains in the matter would be a good thing to assure everyone that Mr.Doheny isn't another lock step republican who says one thing and does another. We were assured that local Republicans were going to behave better. This matter puts a cloud over that assertion, and people need a sign that integrity will return to the political arena. otherwise, this is simply political maneuvering to give one party a free ride to do whatever they please. What alternatives do the people have? Go back to the lying cheating Democrats? I'm still very sceptical about it all. Considering all that has happened to this country in the last 40 years , we don't need the one percenters to become an even smaller percentage of those who control the debt we "owe" to them. Debt servitude is slavery.

Bill Owens should learn that the easiest way to avoid anyone knowing the truth is to make sure it doesn't get printed.

I received example #2. It took him long enough to respond. I assume the reply finally came because of his office staff visit here in the Cape this morning. It was a message written with a fork dipped in ink.

Their answers are all the same. Try the question to any NYS rep or any NYS Senator or any NYS Congress person and you will get the same reply. It is boiler plate. They think we are stupid.
